Services

Explore my comprehensive array of services, designed to help boost your business and empower your employees. I am currently the UK’s FIRST and ONLY ED&I and consultant that specialises in ESEA (East and Southeast Asian) topics.

Writing

My writing services include but are not limited to: reviews (these are not in exchange for monetary payment and do not guarantee positive reviews), researching for, writing and editing blogs and other copy for your website or business, and freelance journalism.

Speaking

I am happy to speak at events, places of study or workplaces both in-person (UK) and online (worldwide) on a wide range of topics (see below). Previous speaking engagements at organisations include Direct Line Group, Atlanta Group, and Bibby Financial Services.

Consulting

I am trained to facilitate sessions on being an active bystander and am also able to deliver training sessions on other topics (see below). Other consulting services include ED&I work such as helping with strategies, policies and procedures and business development.

Other

With nearly 15 years of marketing and social media experience I can help implement strategies, audit your social media performance, create content, as well as improve SEO, marketing campaigns, and assist with events organisation.

Writing

If you are familiar with the Tan’s Topics blog, topics can range from theatre reviews to a critical essay on the lack of minority representation on TV, from my favourite songs on an album to ways in which companies can better celebrate and support Lunar New Year, from my travel guide of Rome to an opinion piece about fashion companies and the problem with the Pink Pound.

Over the years I have crafted my own style of writing that can still be adapted to fit differing TOVs and audiences thanks to extensive experience in content writing and copywriting as well as freelance journalism.

Rates for writing services are charged depending on the type of writing (e.g. article, editorial, business document, short form, etc.) topic, word count, time spent (including researching, writing and editing), and your organisation type and size.

Alternatively, I am happy to be invited to review films or theatre shows in exchange for tickets, whereby the post will be published on Tan’s Topics as well as your own website (or linked to) if desired. Every post is fully SEO-optimised and with more than 100,000 overall views and average daily views of more than 150, plus dedicated platforms and readers, you can be assured I’ll help content on your behalf get a wide reach.

For examples of my freelance journalism for publications such as A News Education, Resonate, So So Gay, Gay Star News and Confidentials, please check out my portfolio.

Speaking

My USP when it comes to public speaking lies in being able to speak on topics that are not commonly covered (particularly those around ESEA – East and Southeast Asian – issues) and through my experience working as a workplace culture specialist tackling and preventing bullying, discrimination, harassment and other behaviours.

Talks and workshops I can give include but are not limited to:

  • ESEA issues
  • LGBTQ issues
  • Anti-bullying (including micro-incivilities), discrimination and harassment
  • Being an active bystander (trained by Protection Approaches)
  • Anti-racism
  • Unconscious bias
  • Using inclusive language

Rates charged are dependent on organisation type and size as well as the type of engagement required (for example: length and topic, plus whether solo or panel, talk or discussion, workshop/training or presentation). Charities, CICs and non-profit organisations do receive discounts.

Consulting

My consulting work has been varied, giving you a scope of different ways in which it can be delivered. These could be through inspirational talks (such as those I have given to students on Content Marketing at Agent Academy and Post-University Life Experiences at my own secondary school, Denefield), working closely with organisations to give top-level expertise (for example, my work to develop event strategies and 1 to 5-year plans for Voice ESEA and recreating UKFCP’s DEI, recruitment as well as social media and marketing strategies).

ED&I and workplace culture consulting can also be part of packages that include talks and workshops (see above), as the two will often need to go hand-in-hand. For why write an equity, diversity and inclusion strategy or seek to improve organisational culture if some of the training needed to give employees is not implemented afterwards or concurrently?

Rates for corporate training depend on the topic, your organisation’s type and size as well as the group size or level to which it is being delivered. Other consultancy fees such as business development or marketing and social media assistance can be discussed further and in addition to the above, depend on length and amount of work needed.
